WHEN I GROW UP
Photo emulsion on concrete, 33x33cm, 2020
“When I grow up” is the title of Eva Schlögl's current photo project. It is a personal approach to the topic of having time. The artist constantly has the feeling that she has too little time for all the things that she would like to do. Too little time or too many ideas. Draw a children's book, finally practice the saxophone regularly, sew clothes and learn to play drums, do more sports and so much more. In addition to work and family, there is not enough time and space for all these ideas. Nevertheless, they are permanently present in the artist's head. These dreams and ideas are now being processed in the 'When I grow up' project. They are staged, recorded on black and white film with a pinhole camera and finally exposed on concrete slabs. The blurry and imperfect representation makes it clear that this is something imagined or dreamed of. Concrete as a carrier material gives dreams more weight. What remains is the artist's anticipation or hope of finally having enough time, at the latest "when she is grown up"
